Giacom buys intY

Cybersecurity star Giacom plans to buy app protection expert intY from US firm ScanSource.

They did not say how much the deal was worth, but Giacom is getting intY’s UK cash, partners and business.

It will also boost Giacom’s cloud power thanks to intY’s link with Microsoft, with the two firms making one of the biggest sellers of licences to the small business UK market.

Giacom boss Terry O’Brien said the move makes Giacom stronger and shows its promise to give top solutions to its partners.

Giacom increases in size

Small business Cloud business Giacom has grown by 20 percent to £58.6 Million and is increasing its hires.

The company said it wanted its team to grow by 22 percent in 2022 across all departments and most of the hires will come from the local Hull community.

To nurture young local talent, Giacom has started apprenticeships within its Marketing and IT departments. The company has also encouraged training opportunities internally and recently launched its Personal Development Plan Scheme, which is available to all staff to up-skill themselves. This has lead to nine staff applying for the highly regarded CMI management certificates.

Additionally, in October 2021, Giacom announced its new partnership with cyber security giant Sophos, being chosen as one of three UK MSP distributors for Sophos.

SMBs are the future of the new normal

SMBs are the future of the new normal and what the channel can do to enable and equip this growing sector more effectively, according to Giacom Head of Platform Rob Hancock.

Hancock said that SMBs needed essential digital tools and technical support. And smaller organisations that take a cloud-first approach are a ‘new generation’ of business owners that will continue to drive business success into the new normal.

Security awareness training must be the foundation of “cyber culture”

Businesses can no longer rely on technology alone to mitigate the risks that come from cyber threats, especially while many workforces work remotely through the pandemic, according to  Giacom Product Manager Daniel Warelow, cybercriminals are using change sparked by COVID to their advantage.

He thinks that the channel plays a key role in the fight against cybercrime as organisations cannot be expected to stay one step ahead of cybercriminals and adapt to new threats on their own, but by relying on the help of their MSP, businesses can feel confident that they have the right education and tools in place to combat the risk of cyber attacks.

“There remains a large cyber skills gap across many businesses, and with the immediate move to remote work over the last 12 or so months, being away from the help of on-site IT teams, organisations are more vulnerable than ever. Finding the right vendor and solutions to tackle these evolving threats is crucial, and end-user organisations need to work effectively with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to stay ahead of the attackers. This enables MSPs to become trusted IT security advisors for the businesses they support, helping them to create a secure business and custom-fit security approach”, he said.

Channel has key role getting customers onto the cloud

Communication and collaboration technology will continue to help enable flexibility and productivity across organisations. But, in the future, this will also include greater access to automation and business process management (BPM) technologies, especially for SMBs, according to Giacom CTO, Steve Law.

Law said that the channel has changed because people have moved to the cloud, and puts forward his view of the future of MSPs.

“Even prior to COVID-19, there were many key reasons for businesses to consider a move to the cloud. For instance, flexibility and agility continue to be fundamental drivers for businesses to make this digital transformation, and this has only been accelerated by the pandemic”, he said.

Cloud backup is an opportunity for MSPs

Cloud backup is increasingly important for SMBs and where there is an opportunity for the channel  Giacom Product Manager,  Carl Oliver, said.

Oliver said that digitalisation accelerated by around five to eight years because of Covid19 and transitioning towards the use of cloud-based technologies has formed a key component of this transformation.

However, as organisations shift from using on-premise solutions to the cloud, many will not have considered that data – despite being located in the cloud – still needs to be backed up. This is particularly true of the SMB market.

“The channel, therefore, needs to educate and support SMB organisations as they develop and deploy their cloud strategies. But, it also means that ITCs need to work with their CSP partners to capitalise on the potential recurring revenue-generating opportunities that backup provisioning can offer”, Oliver said.

KCOM partners with Giacom

KCOM has joined forces with Giacom to create a UK Microsoft provider “powerhouse”.

Hull-based KCOM and Hessle-based cloud services outfit Giacom say their  new partnership signals the creation of a Microsoft powerhouse that will let firms across the region access the IT giant’s cloud based products and services more easily than ever before.

This partnership boosts the cloud application engineering capability that KCOM already offers its large enterprise and public sector customers through its national business.

DWS desires Giacom

IT, communications, and cloud platform provider Digital Wholesale Solutions (DWS) wants to snap up channel-only cloud services firm Giacom.

Giacom has evolved into a cloud services provider and now claims to be the largest independent cloud portal in the UK.

Giacom’s CEO Mike Wardell, will continue to lead the business with his existing management team. He said: “The more time we spent with the team from DWS, the more similarities we saw in our businesses and how we approach the channel,” Wardell explained. “From our focus on customer experience to our business values to the integration approach we each adopt for our technology platforms, it was clear that the two businesses are a great fit.

“As we work together, I’m excited about the extra value we can add for our customers, providing access to products, training and expertise that helps them stay ahead of a changing market”.

Giacom snapped up by DWS

Giacom, the channel-only cloud services provider, today announced that it is being acquired IT, communications and cloud platform business Digital Wholesale Solutions (DWS).

Giacom’s Cloud Market platform is apparently UK’s largest independent cloud portal targeting IT businesses who look after the IT needs of the UK’s SMEs.  It delivers SaaS solutions, including Microsoft 365 and Azure, security and backup solutions to over 70,000 end-user SMEs through Giacom’s ITC clients.

Giacom teams up with Gamma

Cloudy distie Giacom has signed an agreement with Gamma to become the first Authorised Distribution Partner for its Microsoft Teams Direct Routing Service.

Giacom’s customers have already supported SMB businesses through the rapid adoption of Microsoft Teams throughout the remote working revolution. Microsoft Teams saw one of the biggest surges in usage over the pandemic, and is now being used by more than 75 million people each day.

Direct Routing from Gamma is said to be a cost-effective, highly featured alternative to Calling Plans for Microsoft 365, allowing customers to replace any existing phone system with Microsoft Teams for all inbound and outbound calls to landlines and mobiles.

Giacom’s customers will be able to benefit from reduced costs and operational complexity by deploying Gamma’s Direct Routing service, helping them to create a fully cloud-based communication solution using Microsoft Teams and Business Voice, and unlocking the potential of these services.

Resellers need initiatives

Giacom’s CEO Mike Wardell says resellers need to use initiatives to help their end organisations through this rollercoaster journey, on the basis that they will be back and will continue to grow.

Wardell said that any businesses have been thrust into a virtual working world at a faster rate than expected, and adaptations have had to be made to ensure continuity for managed service providers (MSPs) and end users alike.

“But while MSPs, along with all businesses, have had significant hurdles thrown their way over the last few months, they don’t have to tackle this alone – there’s an extensive range of technology and services available to support leaders in this journey and particularly to help resellers overcome the challenges of the current economic climate”, Wardell said.

Giacom enters UK distribution partnership with Nuvolex

Reseller-Only Cloud Service Provider Giacom has partnered with Nuvolex, becoming the first distributor in the United Kingdom to resell the Nuvolex ManageX platform – the IT industry’s most advanced Multitenant Management platform, supporting Microsoft 365 and Azure administration.

The ManageX platform, it is claimed, provides provisioning and daily administration across all Microsoft 365 workloads, as well as Azure VMs, through a “Single Pane of Glass” administration portal.

Giacom helps resellers to get server smart

Giacom, a reseller-only Cloud Services Provider (CSP), has launched its newest product, Cloud Server. Powered by Azure, Cloud Server claims to be a simple out-of-the-box replacement for an on-premises end of life server.

The outfit said that the cloud services market has grown rapidly over recent years and is projected to grow exponentially through to 2022. Yet, the complexity and pay-as-you-go pricing models of Azure can be a steep learning curve for IT companies supporting small businesses. Cloud Server, fits in the market by offering a simple, fixed cost server solution hosted in the cloud.
