Cohesity appoints Gadd as general manager

Cohesity has named Richard Gadd as vice president and general manager, EMEA sales.

Gadd has more than 30 years of experience in technology sales and business development throughout Europe.

He will manage the company’s business and sales operations throughout the region.

Cohesity said in a press release that Gadd would play a key role in continuing to accelerate the rapid growth and adoption of the company’s multi-cloud data management solutions.

He joins Cohesity from Hitachi Vantara, where he served as senior vice president and general manager EMEA for five years. For two years before that, he was vice president and general manager for the UKI.

Before Hitachi Vantara, Gadd spent more than eight years in various senior leadership roles at EMC. He has previously held leadership and sales positions at Computacenter, Morse, and Xerox.

Beyond Identity appoints Shadrake

Passwordless identity management provider Beyond Identity has appointed Tony Shadrake as its EMEA Vice President.

Launched in April 2020, the company replaces insecure passwords with stuff based on asymmetric cryptography and X.509 certificates. This  underpins TLS (the lock in the browser) which is ubiquitously deployed across the internet to protect trillions of pounds of financial transactions daily, it is claimed. The cloud-native solution can be deployed in under an hour.

With 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry – both in the UK and the US – Tony brings with him insights from these two markets. Previous experience includes senior roles at VMware/Carbon Black, Webroot, and Computer Associates. At Carbon Black, Shadrake was instrumental in building the business from the ground up.

Google Cloud hires Dropbox’s former global channel boss

Dropbox’s former global head of channels has announced he has taken up a new role as Google Cloud’s UK & Ireland director of partners and channels.

Simon Aldous spent more than five years at Dropbox and told his Linkedin friends that he was “super excited” to be starting his next adventure and joining the Google Cloud team at Google.

“I look forward to working with the channel team, partners and our corporate sales team to best serve the needs of our customers and help drive evolution and transformation within their businesses.”

FutureWorkForce snaps up AiSpace

FutureWorkForce has acquired AiSpace, an intelligent automaton service provider, to extend its UK capabilities and use AiSpace’s conversational AI.

The deal brings together outfits that create Intelligent Automation solutions that drive efficiency improvements, increase productivity and fuel workforce innovation.

FutureWorkForceGroup Chief Operating Officer Mihai Balaj said: “We wanted to have a stronger presence in the UK. Our acquisition of AiSpace means our customers will now have greater access to expertise and resources on the ground in the UK, and we will have a more extensive base of UK customers from which to continue our growth.

“AiSpace has a similar culture to ours of putting their clients first, and they also have people with exceptional intelligent automation skills. These two things combined made the company a perfect fit for us”, said Balaj. 

HYCU hires former Google UK leader

Cloudy recovery outfit HYCU has hired Rajh Das to be its new VP Sales, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA.)

Das has spent the past 20years working for leading industry cloud and enterprise companies including EMC, IBM, Microsoft and Xerox. Most recently, he was at Google UK where he was a leader in the Cloud business running the Manufacturing, Industrial and Life Sciences sector.  He has led sales, pre-sales, customer success and engineering teams.

Raghuram replaces Kicking Pat

VMware’s COO of products and cloud services, Raghu Raghuram, will take over as the company’s new CEO at the start of June.

He has been with the company since 2003 and replaces Pat Gelsinger, who left the business earlier this year to be Intel’s new supreme Dalek.

Raghuram has helped drive VMware’s direction in areas like its core visualisation business, software-defined data strategy, SAAS transformation and in mergers and acquisitions.

 

 

Lamnech retires from Insight

Insight CEO Ken Lamnech has announced his retirement from the company at the year’s end.

Lamneck, 66, who has been with the company since 2010, will continue his roles as president, CEO and as a member of the board until a successor is found before transitioning to an advisory role.

During his 12 year reign, Insight has seen its sales grow from $4.1 billion in 2009 to $8.3 billion in 2020 as the business some of that through acquisitions.

Over that same period, Insight’s share price has increased from $11.42 to more than $100 a share, an 800 percent increase.

Insight’s share price fell by more than eight percent when the news was announced.

Komprise makes two channel-related hires

Data management as a service outfit Komprise has hired two new executives joining the company’s EMEA division based in the UK.

Martin Gibbons joins as Channel Director, EMEA, and is responsible for leading channel strategy across the region. Gibbons has over 25 years of experience working in the channel, recently serving as EMEA Channel Director at Cohesity and, before that, at CommVault.

Ben Conneely joined Komprise in January 2021 as Regional Sales Director for the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe and was promoted to VP of EMEA in April. Conneely brings more than 20 years in senior-level sale roles in the data management industry, including at HPE and EMC.

Komprise wants to grow its EMEA presence. In November 2020, Fortune 500 technology reseller/distributor Tech Data signed on to add Komprise to its solutions for the pan-European market.

Core to Cloud appoints Howe as CTO

Security outfit  Core to Cloud has appointed Phil Howe as Chief Technology Officer.

Howe said: “The tech Core to Cloud has in its product stack is best of breed and very innovative.  I had worked with Core to Cloud for the past five years and have been a customer when I was deputy CTO at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.  At the Trust, we had a small IT security team. I needed a partner who could work alongside my team, who understood my needs, who I trusted, listened to, and came back with solid recommendations to help overcome some of the challenges we were facing.

Prior to joining Bolton NHS, Phil Howe was a senior IT specialist for Ehealth at NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

“Core to Cloud was an integral part of our team and hit the mark, bringing innovative solutions to us that were fit for purpose.  They helped us build out the security for the organisation, and I was so impressed with the company culture and ethos, not to mention its growth ambitions, that I decided this was the right place for my next career move. Veritas appoints Cashman

Security outfit Veritas has appointed Barry Cashman as its Regional Vice President for the UK and Ireland.

Cashman wants to use Veritas’ heritage in data protection with his expertise in developing and driving high-growth sales teams, to bolster Veritas’ position. He is predicting strategic hiring and training, to drive further innovation and create a more powerful regional team

He joins Veritas from Micro Focus where he spent the last four years as VP and General Manager, UK&I. Prior to that, Barry served two years as Vice President, EMEA at VCE. However, the lion’s share of his career was spent in sales leadership roles at EMC where he was ultimately responsible for EMC’s $2 billion Enterprise business across EMEA.

Cashman said that the unprecedented changes to the economy brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit have given business leaders in the UK and Ireland enough to think about right now – the last thing they want to worry about is costly data breaches or a ransomware attacks.

Miss Group appoints Nordberg chief marketing officer.

Web hosting business, Miss Group, has appointed David Nordberg to be its chief marketing officer to support its growth plans.

Nordberg joins the Perwyn-backed business from gaming and e-sports platform, G-Loot, and a board position with e-sports app, Strafe. He brings more than 20 years’ experience in building international brands, cross-functional teams and new business models for a range of fast-growth online businesses.

His appointment follows a strong period of growth for the Group, which completed two acquisitions in March 2021 – Seravo and MMD Networks. So far Miss Group has swallowed up 14 companies since 2018, with five completed under Perwyn-ownership since February 2020.

CityFibre appoints BT’s Walker

CityFibre has appointed comms industry veteran, Matt Walker as its new Director of Customer Delivery and Assurance.

Walker has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, previously holding roles such as Director of Customer Service for consumer business at Openreach and senior roles in Group Strategy at BT Technology.

Walker will be directly responsible for CityFibre’s ’s provisioning, customer service, Network Operations Centre and technical support teams.

“I’ve joined a great team and my focus will be on ensuring we provide consistent, reliable performance for our partners, and for their customers. I believe transparency on performance is critical, and I look forward to building and developing the relationships we have with our partners so we can jointly innovate to co-create additional value for all and ensure a superior customer experience”, he said.

Schuster leaves Redmond

Gavriella Schuster, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Commercial Partner, has announced she is to leave her current role.

Rodney Clark will be the new corporate vice president of Global Channel Sales and channel chief for Microsoft. Having spent 23 years with Microsoft himself, Clark most recently served as vice president of IoT and Mixed Reality Sales.

In a LinkedIn post, the Microsoft veteran said it was time to “pass the torch”.

“Over the coming months I am committed to helping Rodney onboard and helping my teams close the year strong and prepare the business for the future”, Schuster said.

Velocix promotes Berkeley to CEO

Video provider Velocix has promoted Anthony Berkeley to be its CEO.

Berkeley was most recently Chief Operating Officer at Velocix, and he has previously held senior leadership roles in sales, product, and professional services during his 11-year tenure with the company. Prior to Velocix, he held senior positions at Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia.

David Sharpley, Group Leader at Lumine Group, Velocix’s parent company, said: “Anthony is ideally-suited to drive Velocix’s continued expansion, with his deep domain expertise in the video technology market and proven track record of driving profitable revenue growth.
