Ultima sets up shop in South Africa

Cloudy AI outfit Ultima has built itself a new office in South Africa as part of its global expansion moves.

Reading-based Ultima, has offices in Australia, Singapore, and the United States. By expanding its presence in South Africa, Ultima aims to use the region’s thriving technology industry and diverse talent pool.

Ultima Scott Dodds said the expansion is a significant milestone for Ultima, and underscores its commitment to providing exceptional services and solutions to our growing base of global clients.

Ultima snaps up AntiSocial Engineer

Ultima has  expanded its cybersecurity business by writing a cheque for the AntiSocial Engineer.

AntiSocial Engineer provides cybersecurity services, ironically including social engineering and penetration testing assessments.

Ultima says the Barnsley-based firm uses online security training and auditing services to ensure businesses “do all they can to protect against the wave of sophisticated online attacks conducted by nefarious social engineers”.

Ultima appoints former Softcat boss cloud Top Cat

Ultima has appointed former Softcat head James Hunnybourne as its cloud solutions director.

Hunnybourne was Softcat head of technology services and solutions and said that Ultima had a lot of capability in cloud.

He said: “I’m delighted to be leading the cloud team and be part of a company with a strong drive and people with great technical capabilities. I’m looking forward to building the cloud practice and demonstrating to the market how our technology and services can help improve their business outcomes.”

Lenovo launches three-tier DaaS model in the UK

Lenovo has launched its device as-a-service (DaaS) offering in the UK spanning its entire device portfolio. The news means that all its partners can now sell Lenovo’s device portfolio through a monthly as-a-service model.

Lenovo director of SMB and channel for the UK and Ireland Jane Ashworth said the DaaS offering is split into three tiers: Simplify, Accelerate and Transform accessible through the Lenovo Partner Hub or through Lenovo.com.

Its Simplify tier is intended as a “starting point” and is targeted at small businesses. Partners can use Lenovo’s online tool to add devices and services on behalf of the customer and calculate the total monthly cost of the service.

The Accelerate tier enables partners to add their own services to the quote, which could include configuration or consulting services.

Ultima buys Just After Midnight

Automation and infrastructure service provider, Ultima Business Solutions, has acquired the cloudy Just After Midnight, a global cloud services provider.

Just After Midnight will form a new cloud and application services division within Ultima and will continue to scale its support for brands and their digital agencies.

Just After Midnight brings with it a global 24/7 support and services capability located in London, Australia, Singapore, and the USA.

Ultima appoints Ashmore as CFO

Ultima has appointed Tamsin Ashmore as its new CFO.

Before joining Ultima, Ashmore was Global Finance Director Film and TV VFX Segment at Technicolor.

She has also held senior finance positions at BT, Merlin Entertainments and Unilever.

Ultima CEO Scott Dodds said: “Tamsin brings with her strong experience in managing significant business transformation across different sectors, not just technology.”
