IP Infusion has teamed up with global IT services provider NTT DATA to accelerate the adoption of open networking technologies and solutions.
The pair will bring go-to-market open networking solutions to bring enhanced disaggregation, scalability, and choices to network operators.
For those who came in late, open networking enables network operators to use disaggregated hardware and software components from different vendors rather than relying on proprietary and closed systems from traditional vendors. This allows operators to reduce costs, increase flexibility, and foster network innovation.
This collaboration for expanding broad connectivity was initiated by the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), including TIP solutions for Disaggregated Cell Site Gateways (DCSG) or Cell Site Routers and Cassini for Routed Optical Networking projects. Both NTT DATA and IP Infusion are members of TIP, which is driving development and deployment of open, disaggregated, and standards-based technology solutions to advance global connectivity.
IP Infusion is seen as a pioneer in open networking and flogs a comprehensive portfolio of products and services that support various open networking standards and platforms, such as Open Compute Project (OCP), Telecom Infra Project (TIP), Open Network Install Environment (ONIE), Open Network Linux (ONL), Open Network Operating System (ONOS), OpenDaylight (ODL), OpenSwitch (OPX), and SONiC.

Corporate bodies are three times more likely to primarily communicate with their bank through APIs (Application Programming Interfaces – a form of machine-to-machine communication) versus primarily communicating person-to-person.
Number crunchers at NTT DATA found a shift in post-pandemic corporate banking towards more integrated, digitised, sustainable banking aligned to the new generation of millennials taking up senior positions in corporate businesses.
The research found that accelerated adoption of technology combined with generational shifts in clients, and the ongoing recovery from a global pandemic has fundamentally changed banking.
The traditional corporate banking image of personal client relationships is confined to history as corporates prioritise end-to-end digitisation and frictionless banking. 85 percent of banks report they are working on rationalising their portals, a change driven by client-centricity and improving the customer experience.

EMC is looking to sell its Documentum software unit in a move that parallels Dell’s efforts to sell off assets ahead of the companies’ pending merger.
According to Bloomberg, EMC had agreed to a Dell plan to shop the Documentum software business to prospective private equity buyers as part of an effort to offset the cost of acquiring EMC. However it is equally possible that EMC wants the cash to buy something nice.
Few EMC partners sell Documentum. EMC partners work at the infrastructure level, rather than the application level with document management. Documentum software tracks corporate documents. EMC acquired the company in 2003 for about $1.7 billion.
Dell expects its acquisition of EMC to close between May and October. Dell has been flogging off assets to offset the cost of the transaction. The acquisition deal is worth around $60 billion. Dell intends to take on as much as $49.5 billion in debt in order to complete it.
It has flogged off Perot Systems business to NTT Data of Japan for about $3.1 billion and is trying to find a buyer for SonicWall security business and Quest software. This should get it $4 billion.
