Bank Crisis

Officials of the Empire Trust Company believe the largest single deposit made by an individual since the government suspended gold payments was made by a person who brought in $35,000 in gold in New York on March 8, 1933. Officials of the bank do not know the depositior’s motive in bringing his gold out of hiding but assume it was a case of “Conscience.” The deposit in little bags is shown being taken to the vaults, escorted by an armed guard.(AP Photo)
