Climb Global Solutions completes DataSolutions buyout

US Value-added global IT channel company Climb Global Solutions has completed the acquisition of UK cloudy security outfit DataSolutions.

DataSolutions is an Ireland-based, speciality IT distributor serving the Irish and UK reseller markets. DataSolutions brings its robust share of the Irish market and growing position in the UK to Climb with 14 carefully selected strategic vendor partners, including Check Point, Citrix, Neustar, HPE Aruba, IGEL and Color Tokens.

Climb CEO Dale Foster said the DataSolutions acquisition builds upon his outfit’s goal to strengthen its line card with new strategic, cutting-edge technology vendors and bolsters its geographic footprint in Western Europe.

Channel ignoring net-zero or carbon-neutral goals

Most channel businesses do not seem to have thought enough about improving the environment, according to beancounters at DataSolutions.

The IT and security solutions distributor has announced the results of the UK’s first study designed to uncover the sustainability of the UK IT channel. Between June and August, the firm quizzed 134 UK channel partners and over 244 UK end-user IT decision-makers on their organisations’ approach to sustainability.

It found that more than 60 percent of channel businesses have not set net-zero or carbon-neutral goals.

DataSolutions wants to be carbon neutral by next year

Security outfit DataSolutions wants to be the world’s first carbon-neutral IT distributor by 2022.

After measuring its carbon output in 2018 and 2019, DataSolutions has set a sustainability target for next year and has already made changes to ensure the goal is within reach as part of its ‘Go Green’ initiative.

In 2020 DataSolutions commissioned a report to analyse its carbon footprint and used this to set a carbon-neutral target. DataSolutions has commissioned annual monitoring reports and are using the business directives from the 2015 Paris Agreement to overhaul the company’s processes to help achieve the goal.

DataSolutions has moved its ERP system and other corporate applications to the cloud, added electrical cars and charging points to the business while cutting down business travel and encouraging working from home to reduce employee travel. DataSolutions also replaced its gas-burning (fossil fuel) office heating system with a more efficient heat pump system.

DataSolutions launches UK channel recruitment drive

Dublin-based VAD DataSolutions has launched a UK channel recruitment drive.

The outfit reported 57 percent growth in revenues from distributing brands such as Nutanix, Citrix, Check Point, RSA and HPE Aruba. Since entering the UK, DataSolutions has reported four years of consecutive growth in the UK.

Managing director Michael O’Hara said that training and support are crucial in helping the IT channel make the cultural shift from reselling products to offering a service.

Densify signs UK distribution agreement with DataSolutions

lightning-cloudCloud outfit  Densify has signed a distribution agreement with DataSolutions and created its first UK and Ireland channel.

Previously called Cirba and re-branded as Densify in June 2017, the firm is looking to recruit partners to take its machine learning cloud optimisation service to market across the region.

The company said that its EMEA route market is going to be entirely channel based and it wants to build relationships with dynamic and proactive partners with exceptional knowledge of the public cloud, or with those looking to enhance their offerings to help their customers grow by optimising their public cloud use.

Densify is Canadian and said it wanted more VARs, integrators and managed service providers (MSPs) “that are growing businesses around helping customers leverage and optimise public cloud usage, and the opportunity is indeed vast.”

Powered by Cloe, a ‘cloud-learning’ optimisation engine, Densify continuously learns applications’ usage patterns and needs, and is aware of the major cloud suppliers’ technologies and prices 24/7.

Densify claims that Cloe customers can drive a 40 to 80 percent improvement in efficiency across their cloud environments, and users can see results in the first 48 hours of deployment.

Dublin based DataSolutions also flogs Nutanix and Citrix gear.
