Content+Cloud appoints former Softcat to board

Content+Cloud has appointed former Softcat MD Colin Brown to its board as a non-executive director.

Brown will apparently provide the outfit advice on the business’ growth roadmap.

Brown spent eight years at Softcat and was part of the leadership team that brought the organisation to its IPO. After stepping down as MD in 2020, Brown assisted with the reseller’s transition to a new leadership team.

He now acts as a non-executive director for a number of other technology and services companies.

Content+Cloud CEO Peter Sweetbaum said: “We are delighted to have Colin on board where we look forward to him bringing his exemplary experience at the core of the UK IT Services market in the UK and Europe”, he said.

Nordic Advania takes over Content+Cloud

Content+Cloud has been acquired by Nordic MSP giant Advania, in a deal which will create a combined group with more than £800 million in turnover. M&As again, eh?

The London-based Microsoft partner generated revenues of £84.5 million for its year ending 31 March 2021 and it has 800 staff across offices in London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Reading, Cardiff and Cape Town in South Africa, Content+Cloud claims to operate across all three of “Microsoft clouds” – Modern Workplace, Azure and Dynamics – and has earned 16 Microsoft Gold certifications and six Advanced specialisations.

Content+Cloud snaps up Sipcom

Content+Cloud has bought comms and UC specialist Sipcom to add more communications expertise to Content+Cloud’s existing Microsoft cloud knowledge.

It gives the UK player revenues of £100 million and a staff of 775.

Sipcom’s presence in the US, it gives Content+Cloud a chance to grow its footprint on the other side of the pond.

The SipcomHALOTM platform is a technology that will give its new owners the chance to pitch a unified, secure and resilient architecture.

Daniel Allen, CEO of Sipcom, said: “Sipcom has always punched above its weight as a business. Our close relationship with Microsoft, our track record of deploying services around the world, and our many accolades – including inclusion in the 2020 Sunday Times Tech Track 100 – are evidence of our commitment to excellence in delivering enterprise-class communications and collaboration services.”

Content+Cloud endorsed by Microsoft

Microsoft has given Content+Cloud “preferred partner” accreditation, meaning that it is one of 17  top level firms worldwide delivering Project Cortex.

Project Cortex is a Microsoft attempt to integrate artificial intelligence with Microsoft 365.

Microsoft’s partner plans for Cortex includes three tiers – preferred, chartered and associate.

Content+Cloud worked on the development of Project Cortex. Because of that relationship, the firm claims that it had an early start in implementing the scheme.

It said that it has implemented Project Cortex at a major unnamed global financial institution.

IT Lab to lose its name

IT Lab has been renamed as Content+Cloud as the businesses it has acquired over recent years are lumped together.

The IT Lab brand will be retired on 1 September along with the Content and Code name, which joined the group via acquisition in 2018.

CEO Peter Sweetbaum (pictured) said that Sol-Tec, which was also acquired this year, will also be renamed “in due course.”

Sweetbaum said the name changes reflects the services that the group provides.
