CDW buys Sirius Computer Solutions

It’s M&A time again! IT solutions provider CDW has announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to buy Sirius Computer Solutions for $2.5 billion.

CDW says the takeover, which is expected to close in December, will “significantly accelerate” its services and solutions capabilities, as well as enhance its ability to solve customers’ “increasingly interconnected and complex technology challenges”.

For those who came in late, Sirius specialises in providing secure, mission-critical technology-based solutions to around 3,900 large and mid-sized customers.

The company generated net sales of $2.04 billion in 2020, which it attributes to a service-led approach, broad portfolio of hybrid infrastructure solutions and staff expertise.

CDW president and chief executive officer Christine Leahy said: “As customers require increasingly complex and critical digital transformation initiatives, Sirius’ broad portfolio of world-class technology-based solutions and services-led approach will immediately add to our capabilities to meet this demand.

“Combining our businesses will accelerate progress on our three-part growth strategy by augmenting our portfolio and enhancing our ability to deliver customer-centric outcomes across the full technology solutions stack and lifecycle.”

Sirius brings services and solutions capabilities in important growth areas for CDW – including Hybrid Infrastructure, Security, Digital and Data Innovation, as well as Cloud and Managed Services.

The addition is also expected to expand CDW’s services portfolio by about 45 percent, it says, growing from approximately $900 million annual net sales in 2020 to a combined total of around $1.3 billion.

Sirius president and CEO Joe Mertens said the two companies are a strong fit, sharing common values and a customer-centric focus.
