Westcon-Comstor hits green targets

Global technology provider and specialist distributor Westcon-Comstor claims all of its electricity requirements in the UK are now being supplied by renewable sources.

The company’s locations in Bracknell, Cirencester, and Swindon are entirely powered by renewable electricity, positioning the UK as the first nation where it has achieved this landmark.

The company claims that this signifies a considerable stride towards Westcon-Comstor’s broader goal of adopting 100 per cent renewable electricity worldwide by 2030—a commitment established last year under the RE100 global renewable energy initiative.

Westcon-Comstor ESG head Mark McLardie said: “Setting ambitious sustainability goals for our company, it’s gratifying to show that we’re making real headway in a key market such as the UK.”

In pursuit of lower energy usage, Westcon-Comstor has decreased its energy consumption across its UK facilities.

The company’s logistics centre in Swindon has transitioned to energy-saving LED lighting, a change anticipated to reduce energy use by 25,000 kWh annually.

Additionally, the firm has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for its staff members at its Cirencester and Bracknell offices.
