Nutanix appoints Gill as Channel director

Cloudy Nutanix has appointed Andrew Gill as Channel Director for Western Europe & Sub-Saharan Africa (WEURSSA).

Responsible for leading all channel and OEM activities in WEURSSA, Gill will oversee Nutanix’s relationships with resellers, distributors, regional system integrators and technology partners in the region. Additionally, Gill will play a role in driving channel-focused initiatives such as Nutanix Cloud Bundles, an offering to access Nutanix enterprise cloud software and solutions.

This management bundle lets Nutanix  expand access to its solutions, with an offering that meets the needs and budgets of any company as an essential addition to its Enterprise portfolio, it is said.

Nutanix scores Robert Gordon University contract

Cloudy Nutanix has scored a contract with Aberdeen based Robert Gordon University.

The University has deployed Nutanix Xi Frame to complement and extend its existing on-campus End User Computing (EUC) solution to support demanding researchers in Schools of Architecture and Engineering plus students on the Scottish Graduate Apprenticeship (GA) scheme studying remotely whilst working.

Although happy with the University’s on-premise EUC technology, End User Computing Team Leader Timon Watson and his team had reservations when it came to extending access to remote teaching and learning resources beyond the shared desktops provided in on-campus IT Labs and libraries.

Nutanix scores Auto Europe deal

Cloudy Nutanix has scored a big contract with Auto Europe, a global leader in international car rental services.

The car rental outfit is implementing Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) software to support a fully remote workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as improve system performances, enhance disaster recovery and simplify management of their IT infrastructure.

Auto Europe serves travel agents and brokers at approximately 24,000 car rental locations in 180 countries around the world. Their service enables customers and travel agents to search and compare rates across leading car rental providers. With so many customers and locations, Auto Europe needed a solution that would improve scalability and performance.

Nutanix appoints Rob Tribe as new veep

Nutanix has named Rob Tribe as Vice President, Systems Engineering, for the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region.

Tribe was Senior Director, Systems Engineering and will play a strategic role in supporting Nutanix’s expansion in EMEA, whilst assuming overall responsibility for the company’s growing team of systems engineers in the region. Within this remit, Rob will oversee the teams that provide pre-sales consulting, technical guidance, and assistance to customers and channel partners.

Nutanix appoints Ramaswami as new CEO

Cloudy Nutanix has appointed Rajiv Ramaswami (pictured) as President and Chief Executive Officer to succeed co-founder Dheeraj Pandey, who previously announced his plans to retire as CEO of Nutanix.

Ramaswami is a seasoned technology industry executive who has held senior executive roles at industry leaders including VMware, Broadcom, Cisco, and Nortel, after having begun his career at IBM.  In his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer, Products and Cloud Services at VMware, Ramaswami co-managed VMware’s portfolio of products and services. During his tenure, Ramaswami led several important acquisitions and was playing a key role in transitioning VMware toward a subscription and SaaS model.

Hybrid cloud still “ideal” among the clued up

Cloudy Nutanix has noted that hybrid cloud is still the frontrunner as the ideal IT infrastructure mode and respondents running hybrid environments are more likely to plan to focus on strategic efforts and driving positive business impact.

Announcing the findings of its third global Enterprise Cloud Index survey and research report, which measures enterprise progress with adopting private, hybrid and public clouds. Nutanix was especially interested in the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on current and future IT decisions and strategy.

The pandemic has shifted IT’s focus toward remote worker support and enabling near-instant infrastructure deployments that reach geographically distributed workforces, spurring increased enterprise progress with cloud expansion. Additionally, a greater number of respondents running hybrid environments said they were likely to offer more flexible work setups, strengthen their business continuity plans, simplify operations, and increase digital conferencing usage because of the pandemic.

Nutanix offers new partner programme

Cloudy Nutanix has announced a new global partner programme.

Dubbed Elevate, it is designed to bring together Nutanix’s global partner ecosystem – Value Added Resellers (VARs) and Value Added Distributors (VADs); Service Providers (SPs) and Telcos; Hyperscalers; Independent Software, Hardware, and Platform Vendors; Global System Integrators; and Services Delivery Partners – under one umbrella.

The company says Elevate simplifies “engagement” for Nutanix’s partner “ecosystem” using a consistent set of tools, resources, and marketing platforms provided in the new Nutanix Partner Portal – making it easier for partners to outline their path to success. There is  a new Performance+ Deal Registration designed to increase “incentive potential and opportunity protection”. 

Nutanix promotes Alvarez to channel and partner sales leader

Cloudy outfit Nutanix has promoted Christian Alvarez to Senior Vice President of Worldwide Channels. Alvarez will have oversight of the strategic direction of Nutanix’s channel partner ecosystem, fostering strategic relationships and developing global sales and distribution programs for value-added resellers (VARs), distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), global system integrators (GSIs), and Telco/XSP partners.

Alvarez said: “Nutanix has aligned the right resources, investments and expertise behind its award-winning product portfolio, enabling our partners to add new services and expand their market share to drive accretive revenue streams.I am honoured to lead Nutanix’s worldwide partner organisation through our next phase of growth while helping our partners improve profitability with professional, managed and cloud services. Nutanix UK and European staff will be hit by coronavirus cutbacks

Nutanix has confirmed it has asked non-US staff to take two weeks’ voluntary unpaid leave as part of wider actions to minimise the fallout from COVID-19.

In the US the outfit has ‘furloughed’ more than 1,400 US staff – which is a quarter of its workforce.

Nutanix said that it has asked staff outside the US to take a total of two weeks of voluntary unpaid leave during the same time period.

Nutanix’s share price crashed in late February as CEO Dheeraj Pandey attributed underwhelming second quarter results to the “murky” environment caused by the pandemic, reasoning it doubled down on when explaining its current actions.

Nutanix provides partners with financial assistance

Cloudy Nutanix has announced a Special Financial Assistance Programme (NSFAP) to demonstrate its commitment to support partners worldwide during their coronavirus woes.

NSFAP will provide participating partners with extended payment terms to give them increased financial flexibility for their businesses. Additionally, Nutanix enables enhanced financing options for customers through Nutanix Financial Solutions (NFS).

Nutanix Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales Chris Kaddaras said: “We recognise the immense pressure businesses face today and we are happy to be able to offer immediate support to our partners by alleviating cash flow concerns and increasing financing flexibility,”

Nutanix makes changes to back-end rebates

Nutanix has overhauled how it issues back-end rebates and says its new system is more predictable and less complicated than before.

Nutanix EMEA channel and OEM lead Cyril VanAgt said: “The percentage of rebates we were offering our partners were not on par with what our competitors are doing. And some of our rebates were too complicated and unpredictable.”

Nutanix says software subscription is the business

Hyper-converged infrastructure outfit Nutanix said that its subscription business is proving to be a winner and wants to go deeper with key channel partners.

Nutanix has nearly completed its move from hardware and software sales to software and subscription billing, and as a result, is changing how it reports its financials.

Dheeraj Pandey, chairman, founder, and CEO of Nutanix said the move to a subscription had changed the way it operated its channel.

When asked by an analyst during the question and answer period of the call whether Nutanix’s move away from a hardware focus means the company will be increasing its presence among new channel partners or go deeper with existing channel partners, Pandey replied that he thinks less is more with any relationship.

HPE and Nutanix team up on cloud

HPE and Nutanix announced a global partnership to deliver an integrated hybrid cloud as a Service (aaS) solution to the market.

This offering will use Nutanix’s Enterprise Cloud OS software including its built-in, free AHV hypervisor, delivered through HPE GreenLake to provide customers with an HPE-managed hybrid cloud that, it’s claimed, dramatically lowers total cost of ownership and accelerates time to value.

Nutanix spruces up channel charter

Cloud outfit Nutanix announced today that it is enhancing its channel charter which it calls Power to the Partner.

The idea is to extend opportunities to value-added distributors (VAD) and global systems integrators (GSI) along with additional opportunities for resellers. The new updates provide benefits to partners across the industry.

Nutanix launches its Xi Cloud Services

Nutanix launched a new suite of offerings designed to create a more unified fabric across different cloud environments, so IT teams can run applications on the optimal platform, and are not restricted by technology.
