Glide upgrades its fibre network across Middle Earth

Broadband outfit Glide Group is upgrading its fibre infrastructure in Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham.

For businesses, Glide said, gigabit fibre broadband means greater speed and productivity.

Glide connects over 5,000 UK businesses across the UK and brought full-fibre broadband directly to business parks underserved by larger ISPs, it said.

Glide sees growth in wholesale channel

Infrastructure and utilities outfit Glide said that it has noted a remarkable growth in the UK’s wholesale channel market.

Having started from scratch just over a year ago, Glide now has more than 300 partners who are using the Glide fibre network.  Additionally, Glide says it is already billing a significant amount per month with 183 of those partners – a figure which continues to grow on a month-by-month basis.

Glide’s business is based on allowing the channel to cross sell products on top of a better level of connectivity, which is a key requirement for cloud services. One of Glide’s key objectives is opening up a whole host of connectivity options to its channel.

Ruckus Networks teams up with Glide to connect students

Ruckus Networks announced a strategic partnership with Glide, the leading provider of managed internet services for students. The partnership will help connect thousands of students across the UK, taking Glide’s innovation to the next level with tailor-made connectivity products and services.

UK student populations continue to grow with nearly 1.9 million full-time students — approximately 1-in-3 people — according to the ONS. In addition, Gartner estimates that there will be 20.4 billion connected “things” by 2020. This represents a challenge for the multi-dwelling unit (MDU) market since students demand constant Wi-Fi connectivity for their multiple devices.

Glide offers fibre-to-the-flat connectivity. It has deployed Ruckus’ specialist switching infrastructure into a number of its refurbished student housing locations to complement the Ruckus H510 indoor wireless access points installed in each room.
