Senior IT leaders prioritising AI

A new survey of more than 500 senior IT leaders reveals that a majority (67 per cent ) prioritise generative AI for their business within the next 18 months, with one-third naming it as a top priority.

The Salesforce Generative AI in IT Survey showed the majority of senior IT leaders (57 per cent) believe generative AI is a ‘game changer.’ They believe the technology has the potential to help them better serve their customers, take advantage of data, and operate more efficiently.

This outlook is echoed even among the sceptics — 80 per cent of those who say the technology is ‘over-hyped’ agree that generative AI will help them better serve their customers.

However, the majority believe there could be security risks with AI technology.

Iterate.ai Co-Founder and CTO Brian Sathianathan said that implementing AI within a company’s ecosystem is not merely a leap into the future; it is a strategic commitment to intelligent security. To do so effectively involves designing the foundation with privacy in mind, embedding robust security protocols at each layer of the AI infrastructure, and cultivating a culture where technology serves, and never compromises, the users. It is imperative that companies are aware that a robust security-by-design approach is required for successful deployment.

“Additionally regular security audits, stress tests, and real-time monitoring tools are used to monitor the system. Strong encryption methods, anonymization, and other data security measures can work to prevent unauthorized access, usage, or transfer of data, which AI systems often handle in significant quantities, making the technology more secure and the data protected,” he said.

Ultimately, a multi-pronged, planned out and efficiently executed and monitored AI strategy is needed to successfully take advantage of the benefits of AI for businesses and get ahead and stay ahead of competition.
