The chairman of Huawei implied today that the traditional ways of distribution are a thing of the past.
Guo Ping, the rotating chairman of Huawei told ChannelEye that there is a parable in China about an “old man moving a mountain”. Here, Huawei is the old man who despite blockages eventually win the way.
He said that distributors and the dealer network in the UK could perhaps consider a multisource strategy.
In reference to the server market in particular, Guo said that businesses, given the current political climate, should have a Plan B.
He argued that X86 processors on the server level did not offer the resilience and distributed processing strength of ARM based systems.
He said: “X86 is based on extended instruction sets and does have advantages when it comes to large scale floating point computing. But ARM has advantages relating to [power] consumption and distributed processing.”
As an example, he said that practically 100 percent of mobiles are 100 percent based on ARM.
He argued that ARM can be used in a wider range of circumstances than Intel.
