Cybersecurity star Giacom plans to buy app protection expert intY from US firm ScanSource.
They did not say how much the deal was worth, but Giacom is getting intY’s UK cash, partners and business.
It will also boost Giacom’s cloud power thanks to intY’s link with Microsoft, with the two firms making one of the biggest sellers of licences to the small business UK market.
Giacom boss Terry O’Brien said the move makes Giacom stronger and shows its promise to give top solutions to its partners.
As well as its Microsoft skills, intY has 1,500 partners who will join Giacom’s gang, with efforts to make that smooth. There will also be chances to offer new things to those who fancy the things from Giacom, including cloud, comms, hardware and billing.
“Joining intY’s skills and things will make us better at helping partners in this key growth area of the market while making Giacom the best choice for Microsoft cloud services to the small business UK market,” said O’Brien.
Giacom has been trying to be a digital MSP this year, focusing on the firm’s cloud platform plan.
Earlier this summer, O’Brien said that since Giacom was bought by DWS in 2020, it had been looking to improve its UK place.
“The Giacom buy was about making more. Channel partners are more than just sellers. They are changing into digital MSPs and trusted tech experts for UK small businesses. Partners wanted a one-stop shop with cloud services and comms.
“In a few years, more than half our business will be cloud software sales,” said O’Brien. “In Giacom we have a known and trusted 100% channel cloud brand that will help us be a fast-growing, cloud-first platform firm. It’s a journey the Channel needs to go on.”
