UK tech firms are feeling pretty good about the industry next year despite rumours of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse riding forth, a new report has found.
The IT Industry Outlook 2023 report from The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) surveyed 125 professionals in the UK, DACH, Benelux, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and Southeast Asia (ASEAN) regions to look into the sentiment of technology firms for the year ahead.
UK businesses rated sector at 6.4 out of 10, suggesting that even with current uncertainties and societal stuff, the industry remains robust and confident.
However, despite the largely positive view, the UK, along with other European regions including DACH (6.4/10) and Benelux (6.4/10), were the least optimistic surveyed, with the US (6.8/10), ASEAN (7/10) and ANZ (7/10) feeling more encouraged about future prospects.
The UK’s positive attitude was also reflected in its channel industry, with 53 percent of companies optimistic about their firms’ prospects for 2023, while 23 percent felt uneasy about next year.
More than 27 percent channel players expected their revenue and profitability numbers to exceed those of 2022 if the tech sector flourished.
A more cautious 45 percent expect stable results on par with the previous year, while almost a quarter said they still expect a decline in revenue and profitability even if the tech industry performs well.
CompTIA VP of EMEA, William Remes said: “Despite this turmoil, it is great to see that businesses working in the sector are feeling largely hopeful and optimistic for the year ahead. We are confident that through working together and learning lessons from what we’ve been through, the industry and those in it can continue to grow and thrive in 2023 and beyond.”
