Tech Data has announced that Kevin Wragg will take the job as director, environment and quality compliance as part of the outfit’s net-zero carbon commitments.
Wragg – a long term member of Tech Data’s senior management, will drive forward the company’s plans to minimise its environmental impact.
Wragg said: “There has never been a better time to embrace the energy and passion that exist around moving towards net-zero carbon. Also, at some point, customers and vendors are going to want to know where Tech Data is on its journey and ask us to demonstrate our environmentally-friendly actions and processes. We want to get on the front foot now and do what’s right for our customers, vendors, Tech Data and our planet.”
Whew! Wragg will be working with all areas of the business on actions and initiatives aimed at taking Tech Data towards the attainment of its goals.
Tech Data, UK and Ireland senior VP David Watts said: “Climate change is the most pressing issue facing us all. With this key appointment, Tech Data UK and Ireland is making a firm commitment to achieving net zero carbon and driving the sustainability agenda. We see this as a vitally important part of our strategy in the future.” [We don’t use the words ‘going forward’. Ed.]
Tech Data is already working with a net-zero carbon consultancy named Arete Zero Carbon, which is led by Dr Stephen Finnegan.
In addition to its sustainability and environmental agenda, Wragg will be working with teams across Tech Data to apply ISO standardisation of practices and processes. While Tech Data already has ISO9001 in place at its logistics centre in Magna Park, it is now planning to implement these standards throughout the UK business.
He will take on responsibility for ensuring that Tech Data meets all of the necessary regulatory requirements for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment recycling (WEEE) and disposing of electrical and electronic equipment ethically and efficiently.
