End of Story at Civica

Public sector software supplier Civica has announced that its CEO Wayne Story will formally retire on 31 December.

He will be succeeded by Lee Perkins who will take become the new group CEO.

Civica founder and group chair, Simon Downing said that during his tenure, Story expanded Civica’s global reach and increased software product capability while retaining the company’s culture and values.

“His leadership in successfully navigating us all through an unprecedented global pandemic – providing calm and clear direction and a reassuring ‘voice’ in uncertain times has left the business in such a strong position.”

SCC gets Civica’s licensing and cloud software lifecycle arm

SCC has snapped up Civica’s Licensing and Cloud Software Lifecycle (LCSL) business.

SCC gets the LCSL team and its customers, which include local councils, universities and housing associations, plus its partner relationships, with a plan to add those skills to existing software asset management and licensing efforts.

SCC chief executive James Rigby said: “We’re excited to welcome Civica’s talented team into SCC, and we look forward to meeting customers old and new, as this acquisition helps us to drive growth in a key strategic area. The depth of Civica’s knowledge, capability and customer relationships presents a wonderful opportunity to complement our existing software business. By joining SCC, Civica’s team gains access to a larger market and support team.” 

Civica swallowed by Global private equity outfit

Finding-Nemo-Shark-Wallpaper-HDPublic sector software giant Civica Group has just been bought by private equity outfit Partners Group in a deal worth about a billion dollars.

The firm provides business critical software and outsourcing services, and will be handed over by OMERS Private Equity which acquired it in 2013.

Civica Services, the volume licensing arm of Civica, was an important VAR resellerwith a revenue of £27.8 million.

The company hires 3,700 people with 75 percent based in the UK. Partners Group claimed it will support the existing Civica management team and its ongoing strategy.

Bilge Ogut, managing director, private equity Europe at Partners Group said his outfit was impressed with Civica’s long-term growth record.  It wanted to back a high-quality market leader in a sector with evolving customer needs and the potential to increase scale through select acquisitions.

Wayne Story, chief executive of Civica, claimed that the acquisition is a “very positive development” to support its ongoing strategy.

“Under the ownership of Partners Group, it will be an enhanced version of business as normal led by the existing management team, and we remain committed to our strategy and to the long-term development of Civica”,  added Story.

 

Civica buys up social housing software provider Abritas

civica_logo_linkedinCivica is continuing to buy up government tech specialists and this time has written a cheque for the social housing software provider Abritas

Abrita, which is based in Reading,  provides web application software and related services for the social housing sector and its SaaS services are used by more than 170 local authorities and housing associations.

“The acquisition brings specialist capability which the Group does not currently offer, which strengthens its capability to support improved and more efficient tenant services and help address homelessness,” Civica said in a statement.

This is yet another scalp for Civica which bought the technology and outsourcing company SFW earlier this year; and before that, bought software applications developer IPL. In September last year it bought the o Web Technology Group.
