Rubrik chief revenue office Brian McCarthy said: “We keep investing in the success of our extensive partner strategy and Ghazal’s leadership and channel experience will continue to fuel our data security growth. She will act as a catalyst for scaling our partner enablement and accelerating our go-to-market channel strategy around the world.”

AppDynamics moves to a complete channel model

Cisco’s AppDynamics is shifting to a 100 percent channel model, alongside major updates and improvements to its global partner programme.

The firm said the changes will help partners “fully exploit the potential of stack observability with business context”.

AppDynamics has been using a “direct and indirect” sales model for some time, but the outfit feels that a total channel will provide closer alignment to Cisco’s sales motion and give partners the confidence and opportunity to build out full-stack observability practices with AppDynamics and Cisco.

AppDynamics’ vice president of Worldwide Channels and Strategic Alliances Mark Maslach said the company has added a new ‘Elite’ level to its Global Partner Program, creating a three-tier structure alongside the existing ‘Alliance’ and ‘Titan’ levels.

Cisco buys AppDynamics

Cisco Kid Cisco has written a $3.7 billion cheque for the business software company AppDynamics in one of its largest deals of recent years.

The move will see Cisco looking for new business outside its core networking business. Cisco has been trying to shift its strategy to stay ahead of technology developments, such as the rise of cloud computing.

Cisco’s announcement comes a week after HPE said it would buy cloud startup SimpliVity for $650 million.

Rob Salvagno, Cisco’s vice president of corporate development, said in an interview that the acquisition fits Cisco’s long-term direction and its transition toward software.

AppDynamics makes software that manages and analyses applications and it has about 2,000 paying customers, including NASDAQ, Nike and its new owner, Cisco.

Cisco wrote its cheque the day before the San Franciso-based firm was planning to price its long-planned IPO.

It is Cisco’s largest acquisition since it bought security company Sourcefire for $2.7 billion in 2013.
