Birmingham’s Specialist Computer Centres (SCC) has opened its new Romanian headquarters in Iași, with an official opening ceremony attended by the UK Ambassador to Romania, Andrew J Noble, among other bigwigs.
Romania is home to one of SCC’s key Global Delivery Centres (GDC), providing support to SCC customers and internal operations, having launched in the country in 2006. As of the most recent financial results, SCC’s GDCs in Romania and Vietnam now contribute £20m of revenue to SCC’s overall performance.
SCC Romania said it will provide UK and European customers with 24/7 access to over 1,200 skilled staff, dedicated to flexible support solutions to meet their needs. The multi-award-winning Romania GDC has undergone consistent reinvestment, with the opening of its new HQ the latest milestone in its continued growth.
Day one of the two-day celebration included presentations about SCC Romania and its capabilities and growth to date, a tour of the new facility, and 30-minute workshop sessions around SCC’s Public Cloud Services, Service Desk Call Handling, and Business Process Outsourcing, before guests enjoyed a tour of the city of Iași.
Founder, Chairman & Chief Executive of Rigby Group, SCC’s parent company, Sir Peter Rigby, hosted the event alongside SCC Chief Executive James Rigby, which also welcomed Mihai Chirica, Mayor of Iași, and Maricel Popa, President of the City Council. Other guests included CIOs from four of SCC’s key strategic customers – RAC, Eddie Stobart, Konica Minolta, and The Co-operative Bank.
SCC Chief Executive James Rigby said: “We have enhanced our facilities in Iași, as well as at our other locations in Romania, to continue to attract and retain the best talent, and maintain service levels that are regularly recognised by important industry awards. Our office locations in SCC Romania are in university towns, deliberately so, as we want to attract the best young talent for future success.
“SCC’s GDCs in both Romania and Vietnam are strategically positioned – geographically and within our business structure – to complement the services operation. The skills available in Romania are unique and are a real differentiator for SCC, as evidenced by the successful, long-term partnerships we’ve built with customers such as those we welcomed at the official opening.
“SCC Romania is a key component to the success of SCC EMEA. As we settle into our new Iași HQ, we will continue to deliver award-winning support services and, ultimately, look to grow further. We will continue to reinvest, building on the success we have already seen in more than 14 years in Romania.”
