Storage outfit Cohesity has written a cheque for backup and data management player Imanis Data.
The move is being seen as Cohesity looking to help customers deal with “modern workloads” with NoSQL distributed databases, containers and SaaS data.
Raj Dutt, director of product marketing at Cohesity, said that there was a gap in the market that the addition of Imanis would help it solve.
“Enterprises have not been protecting these modern workloads so now that there is more awareness, organisations are looking to protect the modern NoSQL databases – and that gives the channel a good solution to address that pain point and thus increase the total addressable market”, he said.
“This new joint solution will deliver the industry’s first and only fully integrated, software-defined data management solution for Hadoop big data workloads and NoSQL distributed databases residing on-premises or in the public cloud”, he said.
Imanis does the bulk of its business via the channel, and it would be adding its solution into the mix for its partners.
The Imanis Data team is joining Cohesity with the firm’s co-founder and Co-CEO Nitin Donde remaining part of the business.
“Imanis Data’s technology fits perfectly within Cohesity’s vision to eliminate mass data fragmentation by bringing all secondary workloads together on a single platform”, said Donde.
