Celerity eats up Chilli

Infrastructure and cloud MSP Celerity has acquired Chester-based Chilli-IT. This marks the company’s first acquisition and is aimed at bolstering the MSP’s technical expertise and broadening Celerity’s cloud services and client base.

Celerity stated that the acquisition would enable it to use Chilli-IT’s specialised knowledge within the IBM ecosystem, penetrate new markets, and augment its talent pool. The merged entity boasts an annual turnover exceeding £40 million and a combined workforce of 95.

Chilli, an IBM Gold Partner and managed service provider, will retain its team of 17, who will continue their roles and operate from Chester under the Chilli-IT brand.

Richard Warren, the founder of Chilli-IT, will be transitioning away from the business following a brief period of collaboration with the Celerity team to guarantee a smooth integration. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Initially established in 2002 as an enterprise infrastructure provider, Celerity has shifted its focus towards cloud, security, data protection, and visualisation services in recent years. In 2021, the company secured a £15 million investment from growth equity firm BGF.
