West Yorkshire-based gaming PC builder CCL Computers has been acquired by consumer tech group Tactus in an £11.25 million private equity-backed deal.
Tactus said the deal will create a £125 million business while bolstering its position in the fast-growing PC gaming space.
CCL’s e-commerce capabilities will hand Tactus – which specialises in sourcing, branding and supplying multi-branded Windows 10 devices and wearable tech via retailers including John Lewis and Amazon – its first direct route into consumers.
The deal has been funded by an £11.25 million private equity investment, with lead investor Arete Capital Partners investing £10 million, in addition to the group’s existing facilities.
Tactus CEO Scott Brenchley said that a key part of his outfit’s acquisition strategy was to identify and bring together businesses that complement one another to drive growth.
“CCL is a perfect example of this, with its longstanding reputation in the gaming market built on the outstanding talent it has at its disposal, as well as its dedication to providing the best quality products to consumers”, Brenchley said.
