Air IT expands empire with SoConnect acquisition

Air IT has written a cheque for Scottish Microsoft cloud and communications expert SoConnect.

Air IT CEO James Steventon said the move would increase Air IT’s workforce to 570 employees and enhance its capabilities in the Microsoft cloud domain. At the same time, SoConnect will benefit from bolstered cyber expertise.

“SoConnect is a fantastic addition to Air IT, and we’re delighted to have them on board. Their ethos of making IT effortless aligns perfectly with our own, and their skilled team fits our culture and dedication to outstanding customer service.”

Steventon added that the companies had complementary skills and deep experience in Microsoft Cloud and communication solutions,

SoConnect CEO  Gordon Sayers said: “Joining forces with Air IT is a landmark event for us. This acquisition broadens our scope and augments our capabilities, paving the way for new growth and innovation opportunities.”

Campbell Fraser, the founder of SoConnect, will relinquish his role as Executive Chair but remains committed to collaborating with Sayers and the Air IT team to advance the business’s presence in Scotland.

This acquisition marks the second for Air IT in 2024, following the purchase of SCS Technologies earlier in March. It is also the 13th acquisition for the ambitious Managed Service Provider (MSP), which continues to execute a vigorous buy-and-build strategy supported by private equity firm August Equity.
