IP Transit provider RETN has broadened its internet connectivity services to Manchester, extending its offerings to the city’s Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and enterprises.
This development follows a series of investments in RETN’s international backbone, marking significant network deployments across Western, Northern, and Central Europe and Asia.
RETN’s move into Manchester represents a pivotal step, highlighting the city’s role as a crucial UK hub for both domestic and international network connectivity.
The newly established connectivity ring by RETN will connect Manchester to pre-existing networks in London, Slough, Dublin, and mainland Europe through the Paris Crosslake submarine cable, as well as the London-Amsterdam and London-USA routes.
This linkage will grant businesses in the UK and beyond immediate access to RETN’s expansive global internet backbone, fostering new avenues for growth and innovation.
The expansion includes the establishment of new Points of Presence (PoPs) within Manchester’s Equinix and Datum (previously known as Teledata) data centres.
This initiative is part of RETN’s dedication to delivering its comprehensive range of services nearer to businesses within the Northern Powerhouse community. The services are poised to benefit local ISPs, managed service providers, content providers, alternative network providers (Altnets), and enterprises with regional office locations.
The decision to expand into Manchester is driven by the city’s dynamic ecosystem, which includes sectors such as cybersecurity, eCommerce, gaming, artificial intelligence, and FinTech. Manchester’s diverse industrial landscape renders it an optimal location for network service providers like RETN to serve a broad spectrum of digital and technology-focused businesses in need of sophisticated connectivity solutions.
Chris Elliott, RETN UK Commercial Director, remarked, “Manchester’s recognition as a key digital hub is in line with RETN’s objective to enhance communication and connectivity, founded on our core values of transparency, flexibility, agility, and responsiveness. By broadening our services in this vibrant city, we are committed to providing secure, private, and dependable connectivity solutions that empower both local and international communities, catalysing growth and innovation in every market we engage with.”
RETN’s extensive array of services, which includes Layer 3 IP Transit, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), and Layer 2 VPN Ethernet Services, will now be accessible in Manchester. These services will offer redundant connections to RETN’s network of over 870 points of presence throughout Europe and Asia, ensuring reliable and secure international network connectivity for the region’s businesses.
