ALSO Group has bagged a deal to buy Italian distie Datamatic, hoping to get a pizza the action in the land of pizza and pasta.
The Swiss firm said the Italian tech biz was a “dynamic industry” that would grow by almost 10 per cent every year.
ALSO reckons it can do well in Italy after it acquired VAD Executive Group in 2022 and established itself as ALSO Italia.
ALSO Holding CEO Gustavo Möller-Hergt said: “ALSO Italia has made a fortune in the as-a-service and cloud sector. Buying Datamatic would boost our business in Italy, giving our partners more products to sell and access our awesome cloud marketplace.”
“This will help them save more money from both their one-off and recurring sales.”
Datamatic, based in Milan and founded in 1973, works with big names like HP, IBM, Dell, Microsoft and Intel.
ALSO gushed over Datamatic’s “comprehensive” vendor list and its focus on small and medium-sized customers. After the usual red tape, the two firms should seal the deal in the next few weeks.
The European retail giant has been on a shopping spree in the last few years. Last year, it launched its cloud commerce platform in the UK and will hire about eight Brits.
“More and more customers have been begging us to offer them the full ALSO service and vendor range,” Möller-Hergt said then.
“We decided to enter the market with a local team. This will let UK resellers give their customers access to workplace, business, and cybersecurity applications and cloud infrastructure from global vendors.”
ALSO operates in 28 European countries and has bought its way into Italy, Portugal and Hungary since 2022.
