Global cyber secrurity giant SonicWall announced today that it has bought the cloudy security outfit Banyan Security.
This deal boosts SonicWall’s portfolio by adding zero trust security trusted by big-name Fortune 100 firms to small businesses ditching old cloud security solutions systems, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).
SonicWall boss Bob Vankirk said: “For years, firewalls have been the backbone of cyber security defences. But with the rise of cloud computing and secure access service edge (SASE), the industry is changing its focus to more complete and flexible approaches that include cloud security and ZTNA as a must. SonicWall and Banyan Security will offer cloud-based secure access service edge (SASE) solutions that help partners deliver a security architecture for any stage of their customers’ cloud journey.”
He said that Banyan’s technology takes SonicWall’s portfolio to the cloud and gives partners and their customers more choice, which is key to the ongoing development of SonicWall’s cyber security platform.
The deal fits with SonicWall’s “best of suite” strategy – which includes network, endpoint, wireless, cloud email, and threat intelligence – under a single, multi-user portal.
SonicWall partner, Logically CEO Joshua Skeens, said that for years, SonicWall has played a key role in supporting their partners by offering top cyber security solutions.
“They’re now taking that to the cloud as the demand for cloud-first strategies is clear. As businesses start their cloud journey, they will need hybrid deployments, which SonicWall is perfectly placed to offer, and we are thrilled to be working with SonicWall as we help businesses succeed in this new era.”
With hybrid and remote workers working from their homes, virtual offices, and cafes while using vital business apps across more complex networks, new challenges have emerged. To secure this ever-growing and linked access surface, he said that organisations have been driven to adopt zero trust models to update security, often as a replacement for old systems.
The news follows SonicWall’s purchase of Solutions Granted (SGI), which armed the channel with the latest managed detection and response services for Managed Service Providers and Managed Security Service Providers.
