Vertical Application Solutions framework announces suppliers

Trustmarque, Insight and Softcat are among the big names who have scored a new vertical software framework for local authorities, education, community health and social care organisations.

The Vertical Application Solutions (VAS) framework went live last month and has a kitty of £1.84 billion.

The Crown Commercial Service-run framework works with Software Design and Implementation Services, Big Data & Analytics and Back Office Software frameworks, it replaces the Data and Applications Solutions Framework, which comes to an end on 22 May 2023.

Trustmarque earns all Microsoft’s badges

Trustmarque has earned all six Microsoft solution badges and is busy sewing them on its blanket.

The outfit said that they are the first UK-based partners to win all designations. It also puts the York-HQ MSP in the highest tier of Microsoft’s partner programme.

The company said that it has been keen to evolve from its past as a reseller to a more sophisticated services provider.

Originally Trustmarque just flogged licenses particularly in the public sector. But that has changed and the new solution designations are a recognition by Vole of the company’s ability to deliver services.

In October, Microsoft revamped its cloud partner programme, scrapping Silver and Gold-level certification badges as well as shaking up how partners are categorised and measured.

 

Trustmarque presumes to buy Livingstone

Trustmarque has acquired software asset management (SAM) consultancy Livingstone in a midmarket growth play.

Reading-based Livingstone employs around 150 staff. It turned over £17 million in calendar 2021. Trustmarque said the deal will bolster its existing capabilities in SAM, cloud and licensing.

“This transaction is the first step in an ambitious growth strategy to accelerate the consolidation of mid-market IT services in the UK,” it stated.

Founded in 2010, Livingstone had been majority owned since 2018 by Carlyle Group. The outfit has been becoming more important as end users look to optimise their software estates in the wake of big vendor price hikes.

Capita completes Trustmarque sale

Capita has flogged off the professional services giant Trustmarque which it bought for £57 million in 2016 but agreed to sell to private equity firm One Equity.

The company received net proceeds of £118 million at completion which included an additional £3 million of contingent consideration.

Capita says the proceeds, net of transaction costs, will be used to strengthen the balance sheet and reduce debt.

One Equity Partners has a history of investing in channel businesses on an international level.

Capita flogs Trustmarque

Capita has sold off IT reseller and solutions provider Trustmarque to private equity firm One Equity Partners for £111 million.

For those not in the know, Trustmarque provides managed services and hardware re-sale and was first purchased by Capita in 2016 for £57 million.It has Microsoft, HPE, AWS, IBM, Dell among its vendor partners and had net reported revenue of £122 million in 2020, Capita said.

Capita has been selling off what it calls “non-core businesses” to strengthen its balance sheet and to achieve a target of £700 million of proceeds from disposals.

Resellers scoop NHS security deal

Resellers have been winning parts of a £500 million framework that will provide “end-to-end” IT to the NHS  including Computacenter, Softcat, Total and Dell.

The Digital Workplace Solutions framework is managed by NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) and replaces the predecessor “Link: IT Solutions”.

Total Computers sales director Kieran O’Connor said: “We’re already working with NHS Shared Business Services through ‘The Edge4Health’, so are thrilled to be a ‘Digital Workplace Solutions’ supplier and see it as further endorsement of our ability to provide the public sector with competitive pricing, technical excellence and great service.”

The framework will run for an initial two-year period, with an option to run for a further two years after. Since publication, NHS SBS has told CRNthat the framework is worth an estimated £500 million.

Scotland takes Windows 8.1 tablet plunge

Scottish flagMicrosoft said the Scottish government is to adopt Windows 8 tablet PCs.

The government will take delivery of Samsung Series 7 Slates, Dell Latitude 10s and Samsung ATIVs running Win8.

Trustmarque, an MS Gold Partner, created a proof of concept.  Mark Garrity, head of the UK public sector at Trustmarque, said that the success of the move underlines a strong partnership between his company and Scotland.

The deployment will include MS User Experience Virtualisaion which lets users log in to any computer on the same network.

Staff in the pilot project included 20 top government execs and 20 techniques.

No details were given of the value of the deal.

Trustmarque in £43 mill management buyout

TrustmarqueYork-based Trustmarque has been bought out by its management to the tune of £43 million.

The deal was underwritten by Dunedin which is a UK mid-market buyout house.

Trustmarque has been in operation for over 25 years and it helps organisations license, deploy and manage Microsoft, VMware, and McAfee software.
It made £130 million for the year ended 31 August 2012 and it is hoped that Dunedin’s investment will enable Trustmarque to expand.

The company hires 180 people at three sites in York, Bracknell and Edinburgh and currently serves over 1,200 clients including RBS, Lloyds Banking Group, Sainsbury’s and Capita. Public sector clients include the NHS, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Justice, HMRC, local authorities and NHS trusts throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

Trustmarque was the first Microsoft partner to achieve Gold licensing status and remains a top software and consulting services supplier to the UK Government.

The Sunday Times ranked it as number 54 in their 2013 league of the best small companies to work for in the UK and the company has also been shortlisted by the National Business Awards scheme.

Mark Ligertwood, partner at Dunedin said that Trustmarque esd s market-leader with a clearly positioned brand and an exceptional reputation within both the commercial and public sectors.

“The UK market for software and IT services is currently worth an estimated £40bn and is expected to grow at two percent to five percent to 2016,” Ligertwood said.

It appears the company’s management has a cunning plan to expand and it is a business plan that Dunedin thinks has legs.

Trustmarque was previously owned by LDC which grew it from an IT reseller into a value-added provider of IT services, growing services-driven revenues to 33 per cent of turnover.

In 2011, Trustmarque bought Nimbus Technology Systems as part of a move to provide cloud-based services.
