TD SYNNEX gives partners a boost with Epson

TD SYNNEX has launched a new service to help its partners offer top-notch printing solutions to their customers

The outfit has partnered with Epson to offer its partners the Workforce Enterprise series of A3 copiers and printers. This means partners can provide customers with remote monitoring, automatic cartridge replacement, on-site warranty cover, and the energy- and waste-saving benefits of Epson’s unique Heat-Free inkjet technology from the moment they install them.

The new service, dubbed OpenMPS, lets partners manage customers’ printing devices with automatic shipments of supplies, remote monitoring of print devices, and on-site warranty cover. Partners have complete control over customer pricing and get alerts when consumables orders are placed. Smart dashboarding and full reporting let them see all orders and shipments in one place, and enhanced data checking protects against fraud.

TD SYNNEX UK managed print boss Peter Lunn said adding the Epson Workforce series to OpenMPS allows partners to offer a complete service on these devices. This is a big deal because, as well as making OpenMPS even more handy, there have been few A3 options for partners to sell.

The course has been accredited by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and delivered by specialist consultancy Arete Zero Carbon.

TD SYNNEX sees revenue fall

TD SYNNEX has seen a reduction in its third quarter 2023 numbers, with revenues falling 9.1 per cent to $14 billion, compared to $15.4 billion.

The company blamed weak performance in its endpoint solutions business due to post-pandemic declines in the PC market.

Net income shrank 6.4 per cent to $139.3 million.

TD SYNNEX said the slump was partially offset by growth in its advanced solutions arm.

TD SYNNEX CEO Rich Hume said that the company’s results demonstrated the momentum in its strategic goal to expand in high growth technologies, with robust margin expansion in the Americas and strong EPS generation.

“Our expansive portfolio of products, solutions, and services, along with a relentless focus on execution allowed us to successfully navigate the post-Covid IT spending environment, while our resilient business model enabled us to generate over $500 million in cash from operations, equipping us to increase capital returned to shareholders via share repurchases,” he added.

Layoffs in the channel continue

Some big names in the channel are continuing to lay off staff, citing cliches like economic headwinds.

Ingram Micro is believed to have fired 200-300 employees mostly in its management positions.

The company confirmed that it had made “some changes to the team” as a result of the “changing global and local market conditions.”

TD Synnex’s bottom line suffering

TD Synnex’s second-quarter numbers suffer from PC market decline.

The distributor reported a 7.9 per cent decrease in revenues, coming in at $14.1 billion for the three months ended 31 May. In Europe, the decline was 4.1 per cent, with revenue at $4.5 billion. In the Americas, the drop was 11 per cent, and in Asia-Pacific and Japan, there was a 7.3 per cent climb to hit $901 million.

The outfit pointed the finger at a decline in its endpoint solutions business as the PC industry continues to struggle post the highs of the pandemic period. The firm saw growth in its Advanced Solutions business, with strong demand from cloud and datacentre technologies, but this was not enough to offset what was happening in other parts of the business.

The firm highlighted that the shift in product mix had resulted in a greater percentage of its revenues being presented on a net basis, which negatively impacted the numbers year-on-year to the tune of approximately three per cent.

Operating income of $253 million was flat year-on-year for the business globally, and it was the same picture in Europe. The Americas region saw a decline to $187 million from $193 million, but the picture was better in Asia-Pacific and Japan, where it improved to $26 million from $19 million in the prior year.

TD Synnex CEO Rich Hume said: “Our unparalleled, end-to-end line card of products and services allowed us to realise growth in Advanced Solutions and high-growth technologies, as the industry continued to be impacted by post-pandemic declines in demand for PC ecosystem products.”

“As we enter the second half of our fiscal year, we are focused on pursuing an additional $50m in cost savings and accelerating our shareholder returns via opportunistic share repurchases,” he said.
