Mendix teams up with Red Hat

Siemens-owned Mendix has partnered with the open saucy Red Hat.

The idea is to mix Menix’s to mix its agility and speed low code platform with the scalability and flexibility of Red Hat OpenShift.

Mendix said that working with Red Hat in this capacity will help organisations build scalable, flexible, and security-focused applications and make it easier to deploy and manage Mendix applications across various cloud environments and on-premises infrastructure using Red Hat OpenShift.

Red Hat vice president of partner ecosystem success Penny Philpot said that the partnership will change how how organisations develop and deploy applications.

Mendix jacks up channel investments

Low-code specialist Mendix has allocated cash to expand its channel after meeting its latest revenue milestones.

The outfit made $100 million and thinks that sprucing up its channel will keep that growth coming.

Its main thrust will be a marketplace vendor programme for resellers.

It has to cope with the fact that it needs to get the low-code message out to more customers, believing that more could benefit from being able to put together business applications without needing highly skilled IT staff.

Beware the shadow IT

Mendix has warned about the rise of “shadow IT” digital transformation initiatives.

For those who came in late, Shadow IT is when business teams pursue tech solutions on their own, independently of IT — to deal with the persistent shortage of software developers1 and inadequate budgeting to meaningfully advance a digital agenda.

The research, conducted by California-based Dimensional Research, surveyed more than a thousand business and IT stakeholders in medium and large companies in the United States and Europe.
