IT services and solutions provider, SCC, has announced the start of a £7 million refurbishment programme to its UK headquarters.
The commercial premises, located in Birmingham, are being completely remodelled and upgraded as the latest part of a long-term regional investment strategy by the multi-award-winning business.
SCC has been headquartered in Birmingham since its incorporation in 1975 and is now a £2.2 billion turnover company, with 5,500+ employees and businesses in the UK, France, Spain, Romania and Vietnam.
Now one of the Midlands’ largest employers, SCC has employed 50,000+ people in the region during its 45 years in Birmingham. The Rigby Group-owned company has also invested more than £100 million in the local community, offered hundreds of apprenticeships, donated £1.5m+ to charitable projects and reinvested millions in its headquarters.
In this latest £7 million boost, both the existing 1980s single storey and two storey office blocks will be stripped back to their original structures, with each building undergoing a complete internal remodel to better meet the needs of SCC’s Birmingham-based workforce.
As well as refurbishing the two existing buildings, a new link building will complete the project and provide a walkway, reception area and feature entrance.
Building contractor Speller Metcalfe has been announced as the construction partner for the project with design details being developed by a full project design team. Regional director for Speller Metcalfe, Rob Lashford, said: “Speller Metcalfe has worked closely with the project team to ensure the feasibility of this scheme, and we are delighted to be able to start work on what will be a very high spec refurbishment, enabling SCC to work in a purpose-built environment that truly meets the needs of the business.”
SCC Chief Executive James Rigby added: “This project has been planned meticulously and I’m thrilled that it is finally underway. SCC knows the importance of having a headquarters that reflects the company, our growth, and the innovative nature of the services and solutions we offer. And we’re proud to be investing even more in a community that we’ve called home for almost 45 years.”
The scheme is set to be complete in the summer of 2020.
