Canon UK and Ireland will be relocating its head office in Reigate to Uxbridge potentially threatening 450 jobs.
The headquarters, found off Cockshot Hill, Woodhatch , will move after a decision by multinational company to “address efficiency improvements” and outsource finance, business operations and customer service.
Canon has stated this decision means the Reigate office “will have significant over capacity for future requirements”.
The move to Stockley Park in Uxbridge will see the UK and Ireland HQ (UK&I) move to the same site as the multinational company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) HQ.
Yusuke Mizoguchi, managing director of Canon UK&I, said: “Given that the EMEA HQ has been based in the UK for many years, it makes strategic sense to seek out opportunities to create a more streamlined operation whilst increasing our overall competitiveness.
“Having a joint location will enable us to look for opportunities to share resources and run a more efficient organisation which will also create some broader group opportunities for some of our UK employees.” Perhaps not for 450 people.
