The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has given the thumbs up to TD SYNNEX’s plans to cut emissions in the short and long run.
TD SYNNEX is joining the ranks of fellow distributors Westcon-Comstor and MSP Logicalis in getting their targets stamped with approval by the org.
TD SYNNEX CEO Rich Hume said:”I was pleased to sign our pledge to the SBTi’s Business Ambition Pledge as one of my first acts after the merger that brought our company to life in September 2021, so it’s a no-brainer that sustainability’s been top of our list from the get-go,”
“I’m proper grateful to all the partners involved in putting together our plan for hitting these targets. Getting the green light from SBTi really shows their graft and dedication.”
SBTi’s all about setting the bar, providing the kit, and offering advice to tackle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
TD SYNNEX’s goals for hitting net-zero emissions are now official, putting them right at the sharp end of corporate climate action.
The company is on a mission to slash greenhouse gas emissions to zilch across the board by FY2045. It wants to cut total scope one and two GHG emissions by 42 per cent by FY2030, starting from a FY2022 baseline. They’re also expecting 90 per cent of their suppliers that they splash the cash on, covering bought goods and services, to have science-based targets by FY2028. Plus, they want 58% of their customers, in terms of dosh from sold products, to have science-based targets by the same year.
Long-haul goals: TD SYNNEX is dead set on reducing total scope one, two, and three GHG emissions by 90 per cent by FY2045, again from a FY2022 starting point.
