VMware flags next year’s partner programme changes

VMWare said that it is making changes to its channel partner programme as flagged last year.

The outfit has been rebuilding its channel programme and said that the emphasis would be on gaining specialisations having started its master services programme, with four options partners, could go for, back in May.

It now plans to launch the VMware Cloud on AWS Master Services Competency to go alongside the existing network virtualisation, cloud management and automation, data centre virtualisation and desktop and mobility options.

Worldwide channel chief Jenni Flinders unveiled something she called Partner Connect, which will go live early next year.

“VMware is introducing a new way of partnering; we have listened to feedback from our partners, and VMware Partner Connect will be our singular partner program for any business model,”

The programme is designed to be more flexible and align to partner business models. The three tiers – partner, advanced partner, and principal partner – will be primarily defined by the commitment to master services competencies.

“With this new programme, we are making it simple for partners to co-sell and co-invest with us, as they align to next-generation VMware technologies and drive superior value throughout the customer journey”, she added.

Those at the top of the programme, the principal level, with the most service competencies will be eligible for a range of incentives, including co-selling opportunities with VMware and joint-business planning.

VMware is expecting all partners in the new programme  to demonstrate necessary capabilities by gaining Solution Competencies which focus on selling skills, architecture proficiency and deployment expertise.

There will be education and resources made available to help the channel get ready for next year’s launch, she said.
