Adata and Etna Technology sign agreement

Under the new agreement, which comes into effect as Computex takes place over in Taiwan, the pair will work together to push Adata’s memory products.

Jon Atherton, Commercial Vice President for Enta, said it was looking forward to working with Adata which was “a great brand with an exciting roadmap”.

Craig Connell, head of regional sales for ADATA, said Enta was “exactly the kind of distributor” the company had been looking for.

Asked about the most immediate benefits, Connell said the launch of Intel’s 4th Generation Core Processor family would see a strong surge in demand for very fast memory products, such as the new 2,800MHz DDR3 modules that the company had just launched.

He said Enta had a strong reputation among the kind of stores that would be selling Z87 boards and the company want to make sure that as many as possible came supplied with ADATA DDR3”.

According to analyst house iSuppli, ADATA became the world’s second largest supplier for DDR memory modules in 2010.

Fujitsu UK and Microsoft continue cosy relataionship

cosyFujitsu UK and Microsoft have extended their partnership, announcing that they have created a new centre of excellence business model.

The new addition to the couple now means that Microsoft staff will work on-site at Fujitsu’s premises to generate the two companies’ first Centre of Excellence (COE), which is aimed at helping Fujitsu customers drive innovation across their businesses by ensuring the adoption of the right technology options for their organisations.

The Centre of Excellence, which has been born through an investment of £4.5 million from Fujitsu, will create an environment for both Fujitsu and Microsoft experts to combine their core strengths in delivering complex IT products. The companies said this includes enterprise desktop transformation projects and bespoke enterprise consultation services.

The cosy pair also claim to work together to engage customers early on in the technology adoption cycle.

Fujitsu will use its experience in delivering complex desktop transformation products and implementing successful end user services projects and combine this with the COE team’s  knowledge of Microsoft products and services.

The pair said this would to help address the challenges that many of their joint customers face with regards to the enterprise-wide implementation of technology products.

In addition, the companies working together will ensure that both organisations and their customers experience an increase in global delivery capabilities that will in turn ensure that projects are completed in as fast a time as possible.

Corero Network security and Infinigate UK get cosy

cosyCorero Network  Security has got close and personal with Infinigate UK.

The company has appointed the specialist security distributor known previously as Vigil Software to distribute its Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) defence products.

The deal will give Infinigate access to the range of products claimed to block traditional volume based DDoS attacks,  newer application-layer attacks, zero-day and server targeted attacks that evade traditional firewall defences.

Infinigate boasts it was selected as the UK distributor due to “its in-depth security expertise and focus”. It says it offers Corero to extend its reach into other European territories via its subsidiaries in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark.

Infinigate UK will be implementing Corero’s  SecureWatch Partner Programme, with a view to adding selected new resellers, particularly those with experience in key markets where Corero has deep traction including banking and finance, e-commerce, online gaming and gambling.

The new programme is designed to enable resellers to deploy security solutions that help enterprises and government organisations thwart the rising tide of DDoS and targeted attacks and address a market that, according to Infonetics Research, grew by 24 percent last year and is set to reach $420 million by 2016.

Daisy Group contracted to manage 2e2 Data Centre Business

DaisyDaisy Group has been appointed by Oakley Capital Private Equity to manage the 2e2 Data Centre Business.

The 2e2 Data Centre was rescued by Oakley after its parent business 2e2 Group went into administration. However, Oakley decided to pass the responsibility over to Daisy.

Daisy has said it will work with existing data centre employees of the business to provide data and hosting services from its data centres in Gateshead and Reading. It said that combined together, these data centres would double the amount of data centre power available to the Group’s customers, increasing from 2Mw to 4Mw.

Matthew Riley, chief exec of Daisy, said customers would also get the opportunity to work with a long-term partner with “proven expertise” in the data and hosting market.

He added that Daisy is now placed to provide stability to existing 2e2 customers and “offering further expertise and resource to Daisy customers”.

Avnet and TE Connectivity celebrate silver anniversary

lovebirdsThis Valentine’s, Avnet Electronics Marketing and TE Connectivity are today celebrating their silver anniversary.

The pair have announced they have been going steady for the past 25 years, where they have shown each other “commitment”, while TE described its other half as a “great partner”.

Over the past quarter of a decade, the duo claim to have helped many of their OEM customers, providing them with connectivity products paired with a distribution service

Ed Smith, president, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas praised its partner, claiming that with its commitment to innovation, TE had “changed the way the world thinks about connectivity”.

He added that the industry had moved on from wanting just a single connector to a  “connectivity solution”, which would change the way they worked and Avnet’s partnership with TE meant that they could provide this.

TE was equally complimentary to its longterm partner, gushing how it couldn’t wait to spend more years together.

To celebrate, the pair have made charitable donation to the FIRST Robotics Competition. FIRST Robotics is a non-profit organisation, led by American innovator Dean Kamen, which seeks to inspire children and young adults to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Pivot3 signs EMEA distie deal with Avnet

avnettsPivot3 has signed on the dotted line to make Avnet its distribution partner.

The company, which deals in converged storage and compute appliances, has said under the agreement Avnet will distribute the Pivot3 vSTAC VDIproducts to its partner network across EMEA countries.

The Pivot3 vSTAC VDI appliance family is said to make VMware View deployments easy, affordable and channel friendly for the 100 to 2,500 desktop target market.

They are also claimed to eliminate the need for specialised IT expertise to configure and integrate separate SAN storage, servers and software into a VDI solution.

Ed Bateman, director of software, Wireless and Mobility Business Group EMEA at Avnet said the partnership would give resellers a product that was “simple, scalable and cost-effective” for their clients.

In support of the partnership, Pivot3 has a VDI Channel Ready program which it claims is  designed to maximise lead opportunity and qualification for Avnet resellers and product providers in EMEA.

It provides online tools for VDI self-configuration and ROI analysis. Additionally, prospects can “Test Drive” a live, hosted 300 to 400 desktop scenario complete with workload simulation, login storms, scale-out of desktops and performance reporting. The Channel Ready program is also designed to enhance sell-through with all VMware and Microsoft license revenues flowing to the resellers. In addition, deal registration is available to partners.

The Pivot3 vSTAC VDI is available now and is already said to have caught the eye of several leading enterprises across various industries, including healthcare, education, government and financial services. List pricing starts at $29,999.
