Great resignation causes channel problems

The channel is finding it challenging to keep new staff and find new talent during the ‘The Great Resignation,’ according to a new report from global channel services provider Agilitas IT Solutions.

For those who came in late, the great resignation is caused by workers suddenly deciding there is more to life than a long commute to attend long and dull meetings with management about moving cheese, kicking the ball running or working out how Atilla the Hun would have flogged computer services.

Channel feeling pretty confident

Beancounters at Agilitas have been asking around and have discovered that the channel is pretty confident, given the mess that the world is in.

Agilitas’s findings revealed confidence that the channel was working collaboratively to balance profit and purpose.

COVID enables an environmentally friendly channel

The COVID-19 pandemic enabled the channel to implement a more environmentally-friendly way of working, according to Agilitas  Marketing Director of Richard Eglon.

Eglon said that Sustainability continues to dominate corporate discussions on a global scale. With consumers more aware of their everyday choices and what this means for the environment, businesses must step up and take responsibility for the products and services that they sell.

“Companies are beginning to adjust and adapt their behaviours and attitudes towards sustainability, with many looking at circular methods to eliminate waste and re-use resources. This includes the products and devices that they use across the workforce”, he said.

Partnership revenue slips

Channel leaders attribute only 17 percent of their revenue to collaboration and partnerships with other channel companies, compared to 25 pe cent in 2017, according to new research.

Channel services provider, Agilitas, has released its ‘Connect to Collaborate’ guide, which is the second in the company’s series of ‘How-to’ reports. The reports are a central part of Agilitas’ channel insight campaign, ‘Connect – Voice of the Channel’, which was launched back in 2019.

The guide is based on the results of research commissioned by Agilitas, surveying leading channel decision-makers about their predictions for the future of the industry and the role that collaboration will play in this.

The most popular reasons given for partnering with other companies were that collaboration is more cost effective and speed/efficiency . Other reasons included keeping up with regulation, and meeting customer demand.

Agilitas CEO Shaun Lynn said: “It has always been clear that collaboration is one of the ways that our industry differs – and stands out – from others, and the COVID-19 crisis has illustrated this more clearly than ever. Collaboration is inherent in the nature of our industry; even the way we refer to other companies as ‘partners’, and our relationships, or ‘partnerships’ with them, shows how collaborative the channel is.

Agilitas has a background in networking and storage, with relationships with vendors including Cisco, Juniper, Dell, NetApp and Oracle. The Fortinet deal extends coverage to security and the firm has also become an HP Business Partner to be able to deliver more PC and print services.

Agilitas becomes Fortinet integrator partner

Agilitas IT Solutions  said that it is expanding its offerings to include security solutions, becoming a Fortinet Integrator Partner.

The recent mass move to home working that came as a result of the COVID-induced lockdown has led to a significant increase in cyberattacks. Many organisations neglected to update security policies in the rush to implement home working, and there has been a rise in COVID-related phishing campaigns.

The comapany thinks it will resolve these problems by partnering with Fortinet, and offering  Fortinet’s security solutions to its expanding partner base.
