Big firms need more cyber awareness

The UK’s biggest boards are still clueless when it comes to cyber issues according to a new study.

The Government’s Cyber Governance Health Check looks at the approach the UK’s FTSE 350 companies take for cybersecurity. The 2018 report published today shows that less than a fifth of boards has a comprehensive understanding of the impact of loss or disruption associated with cyber threats. That’s despite almost all (96 percent) having a cybersecurity strategy in place.

HP warns partners to stay out of battery recall

The maker of expensive printer ink HP has warned its customers not to talk to service partners in the recent battery product recall.

For those who came in late HP recalled more than 78,000 of its commercial notebooks and workstations due to their nasty habit of overheating and catching fire. The laptops at risk are from a range of devices, including various ProBook and ZBook models.

Barracuda sees growing MSP momentum

Barracuda said that it is seeing growing momentum in the MSP market.

Barracuda Networks CEO BJ Jenkins, said his outfit’s MSP portfolio approach, led by security, has been successful in the marketplace and is a key growth area for the company. Barracuda grew its international MSP partner base nearly 300 percent over the past two years, and most importantly, the number of MSPs using multiple Barracuda solutions increased 34 percent year-over-year, as of February 2019.

Top tech lawyer warns Brexit will create problems for tech industry

A top lawyer has warned that industry leaders should prepare for Brexit fall out whatever happens.

One of the tech industry’s most prominent lawyers Dorsey & Whitney partner Frances Doherty said there are three significant issues within the tech sector as it braces for the change– access to talent, access to money, and access to research funding, which will all become more difficult regardless of a vote for an extension or not.

Dell trolls rivals in advert campaign

Gray tin box shifter Michael Dell has been trolling the company rivals in a front page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal.

Michael Dell tweeted the ad, which displayed figures from analyst IDC, showing the vendor’s dominance in the external enterprise storage space against rivals NetApp, HPE and IBM.

Nearly half of companies have applied intelligent automation

Nearly half of companies have applied intelligent automation according to an Appian study carried out by conducted by IDG and LTM Research.

Less than half (46 percent) of organisations have deployed intelligent automation. This is even though a large majority of IT leaders agree that effective intelligent automation holds enormous potential for their businesses, the report said.

Juniper’s Groot focuses on channel expansion

Juniper Network’s new head of EMEA channels, Sander Groot has overhauled Juniper’s coverage model in the region to help achieve his “number one goal” of growing the channel business.

Groot, who stepped into the role five months ago, says he has made immediate changes that see Juniper go all-in with the company’s managed partners. From now on account managers and directors will focus on their managed partners, because that focus will drive growth.
