Netomnia crosses 50,000 homes and businesses threshold

Cheltenham-based fibre network operator Netomnia has just passed 50,000 homes and businesses across its rollout areas.

The outfit has added 20,000 premises to its network in the last two months and is delivering its infrastructure in 14 towns across England, with more to come over the coming months, as it aims to connect 100,000 homes and businesses by the end of 2021, and one million premises by 2024.

Centerprise releases its CiCloud platform

Centerprise has cut the ribbon on its CiCloud platform, which has been built leaning on technology from HPE and CloudSigma.

For those not in the know, CiCloud is based on HPE GreenLake technology combined with infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) specialist CloudSigma’s expertise to offer hybrid, private or public cloud options to customers. Ark Data Centres are being used to physically house the information.

The idea is that workloads can be moved to the platform without too much hassle, as well as the promise of the option to scale up or down quickly and the option of a pay-as-you-use model.

Timing is important as customers shift towards the cloud, with many having accepted that it is a way to consumer technology and services.

Bluebell takes on more management hires

Fibrish  Bluebell Opticom has made two new hires to its senior management team.

From 1 October  Samir Mansuri will be technical director; Anil Parmar, sales and marketing director; Peter Murray manufacturing and production director, and Paul Gibbins as non-executive director.

Bluebell Opticom MD  Paul Felix McCann said that all the new hires excel in their respective roles, and bring Bluebell the knowledge, creativity, and experience to optimise its operations and enhance our ability to address evolving market requirements with fibre solutions.

Mansuri most recently served as principal electronics design engineer for Camera Corps and held similar roles with industry leaders including SIS LIVE, Pro-Bel, and DTL Broadcast, designing creative solutions for high-profile live events and other broadcast applications.

Sharp launches new partner programme

Sharp Business Systems UK has revised its partner programme to reduce the reliance on using hardware sales as the main performance indicator.

Apparently, the outfit has been chatting to its partners and customers to make sure both understand that the business offers more than just the traditional printers.

Sharp dealer sales director Paul Leach said COVID-19 necessitated a new way of thinking.

“We knew our previous programme needed to evolve with the changing marketplace. The new programme has been designed to meet the needs of our partners and help them meet customer demand for practical, relevant and cost-effective solutions. We see the programme as a partnership. We wanted to develop and create a partner programme that is aspirational to the dealers we partner with, and ultimately leads to a successful relationship for both sides”, Leach said. 

Crown Commercial Service calls £4 billion tender

The Crown Commercial Service called a £4 billion tender for suppliers to provide digital specialists for a two-lot framework that will be accessible by government and public sector departments.

“Crown Commercial Service (CCS) as the authority intends to put in place a pan-government collaborative agreement for the provision of digital, data and technology (DDaT) specialists and facilitate large-scale digital transformation programmes,” the tender states.

Delphix hires Harbert to lead its marketing

DevOps outfit Delphix has appointed Josh Harbert as Chief Marketing Officer.

Delphix Worldwide Field Operations president Steven Chung said Harbert’s analytical and revenue-focused leadership, combined with his proven track record in enabling technology companies to grow market share aggressively, will be a great asset.

Harbert brings over two decades of marketing experience at high-growth companies with a particular focus on pipeline generation, account-based marketing growth strategies, scaling marketing teams and technology stacks, customer marketing, and executive engagement.

Harbert’s marketing leadership experience spans tenures at Apptio, Qumulo, and most recently, Tanium. While at Apptio, he was instrumental in the company’s growth from an early stage through IPO and an eventual $2 billion sale to private equity in 2019.

Synaxon forges distie deal with European Office Supplies

Synaxon has signed a partnership with European Office Supplies, the leading distributor of printer supplies, giving members access to the company’s full range of products through EGIS – its online procurement platform.

The idea is that by using EGIS, they can go online 24/7 and check current stock availability and pricing from all major distributors – and place and manage their orders

Synaxon Managing Director Mike Barron said: “The work from home boom in printer sales, more businesses and people need to regularly replenish their ink and toner cartridges, printer paper and other consumables. This partnership with European Office will help our members to capitalise on that opportunity.”

Westcon-Comstor signs distie agreement with Noname Security

Distributor Westcon-Comstor has signed a new EMEA distribution agreement with enterprise API security company Noname Security.

The cunning plan further strengthens the Westcon Next Generation Solutions (NGS) offering in the cloud and DevOps security.

The Noname API Security Platform lets businesses mitigate API security risks by discovering all APIs, data, and metadata, analysing API behaviour, remediating API vulnerabilities, and detecting and preventing API threats. 

Arqit signs research deal with Juniper

Quantum encryption outfit Arqit has signed a deal with Juniper Networks to explore network security technology to protect against quantum security threats.

The idea behind the ‘Technology Alliance Partner Connect’ deal is to develop a way to stop cyber-attackers targeting networks by using quantum secure key-exchange mechanisms to limit interruptions and improve business resiliency.

Juniper Vice President of Engineering Domenico Di Mola said: “Quantum encryption is a promising technology to help make networks more secure against threats now and into the future, and we are thrilled to be working with Arqit on these innovations.”

Intuit buys Mailchimp

Intuit has agreed to purchase global customer engagement and marketing platform Mailchimp for $12 billion.

The move is part of a cunning plan which will see Intuit and Mailchimp will combine their technologies to build an end-to-end customer growth and engagement platform for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), the company said.

Founded in 2001, Mailchimp began offering email marketing services and has now evolved into a major name in customer engagement and marketing automation with AI-driven tools and services. Intuit, meanwhile, is most well known for its QuickBooks small business accounting software.

ThycoticCentrify hires SHRM’s Keith Green

ThycoticCentrify, a provider of cloud identity security solutions formed by the merger of privileged access management (PAM) leaders Thycotic and Centrify, today announced that Keith Green has joined the company as Chief Human Resources (HR) Officer.

Green joins ThycoticCentrify with more than 25 years of experience leading major corporate transformations and will oversee the newly-combined company’s HR strategies and several business operations.

Green previously served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) where he led financial management, operations, and business strategy. Under Green’s stewardship, SHRM successfully navigated the Covid-19 crisis and achieved the strongest financial position in its 70-year history.

Exclusive Networks explains float

Distributor Exclusive Networks claims its decision to go public is part of a growth strategy that will involve attracting new vendors and expanding its customer offerings.

For those who came in late, the channel player, which started life in France and has its HQ in the UK, has chosen to list on the Euronext Paris after filing its documents with French Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), courting investment in a business that has charted a course in delivering emerging security and cloud technologies. The aim is to use the IPO to generate a capital raise of up to approximately €260 million of primary proceeds that will help the business continue on its growth journey.

Chief Executive Officer of Exclusive Networks Jesper Trolle said that the plan was to move to a “totally trusted” digital future.

Tech Data expands self service operation

Tech Data is increasing investment in its Software Store self-service renewals platform introducing a monthly data pack option for partners that have a large number of upcoming renewals and providing dedicated business development support.

The company said it is seeing steady growth in usage of the nine portals via which software and service renewals can be tracked, quoted for, and ordered, and is on track to achieve half of all software licensing renewals through them by the end of the year.

Michael Holden, Tech Data, UK and Ireland, business development manager eCommerce, said that the new data pack option will provide larger reseller partners with all pertinent information on their up-and-coming renewals for automatic input into their own internal systems.

“Larger partners may have thousands of renewals they want to track and might need to give access to many different users while ensuring they conform to security and data policies. We’ve developed the data pack option to provide partners with an uncomplicated way to get all the information they need to automate their renewals business, whilst ensuring they are compliant.”

SoftwareOne snaps up HeleCloud

SoftwareOne has acquired leading Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner HeleCloud for an amount of money – it won’t say how much.

UK-based HeleCloud is an AWS MSP and AWS consulting partner and will give SoftwareOne more depth around that cloud technology across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), thanks to its operations here, in the Netherlands and Bulgaria.

The cunning plan is for HeleCloud’s leadership team and employees to integrate into SoftwareOne’s AWS practice.

HeleCloud has been around since 2016 and brings consulting expertise and knowledge of software architecture, infrastructure engineering and managed services, it is said. The firm has positioned itself as the ideal partner for those customers seeking help to navigate the often complex world of public cloud.

Javid Khan, AWS global director of SoftwareOne, said it had been targeting growth from the public cloud and the deal would support all that.
